Guinea Bissau: Italian media coverage

Guinea Bissau has voted yesterday for the presidential elections. In March and at the beginning of June the former president and the favourite candidate for these elections were killed.

Today no Italian newspaper report the news while online just Euronews.net report the news beside the website of Radio Vaticana (Vatican radio).

Last March the second former president, Joao Bernardo “Nino” Vieira, was killed after leading the country for 22 years.

The country is one of the most poor in Africa and it is “wracked by drugs trafficking”, the Southafrican Mail&Guardian website reports.

According to AlJazeera.net/english the voters turnout to the elections was low yesterday, Sunday June 28, 2009.
