WFP launches emergency operation for Egyptian retureens from Libya

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), upon the request of the Egyptian Government, is launching tomorrow an emergency operation to assist 60,000 Egyptian returnees from Libya as well as their families who will be provided with monthly food vouchers.

Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Foreign Minister for Mulilateral Affairs and International Security is inaugurating the MOU signing ceremony. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acting as the focal point between the Government and WFP, is hosting the event which will also be attended by Mr. Muhannad Hadi, WFP Regional Director as well as Samer Abdeljaber, WFP Egypt Deputy Director a.i.

The three month emergency operation is trageting five governorates with the highest number of returnees (Sohag, Menia, Assiut, Qena and Kafr El Sheikh).
