On the sidelines of the G8 summit, Foreign Minister Franco Frattini met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa Maite Nkoane Mashabane.
The South African Minister thanked the Italian Government for the invitation to the G8 Summit also reiterating the solidarity of his government for the earthquake victims of the Abruzzo region.
During the interview, were detailed to international issues, including joint cooperation in areas post-conflict on the African continent and bilateral issues, the two Ministers agreed on strengthening political and economic relations through bilateral ‘institutionalization of the relations of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the creation of an economic forum between the two countries.
South African minister invited her Italian colleague to visit South Africa shortly as part of the deepening of relations between the two countries.
The Minister asked support for training programs and skills development for young South Africans about which Minister Frattini announced the availability of positive feedback.
