Russian photographer depicts war torn Libya

Thousands of lost lives. Scores of ruined houses, hospitals, schools. Dozens of paralyzed enterprises and power stations.

Destroyed cultural heritage and ancient cities.

Such are the consequences of NATO’s five-month war in Libya seen through photographer’s eyes. The pictures were taken by a Russian photographer in Libya between April and July. They show the courage and sorrow of ordinary Libyans.

This is what remained after a bombing of a children’s art center. These are funerals of those killed in a night air attack on Tripoli.

Several thousand people, military and civilians, have died in NATO air strikes on Lybia since March. NATO may bomb Libya, but it cannot break the will of the Libyan people in defending their right to shape their country’s future.
Such is the message of this exhibition called “Libya in Struggle”.

The exhibition is meant to show Russia’s support for Libyans during this hard time.
