Today 25 May 2020 is the Africa Day, the date that celebrates around the world the birth of the Organization of African Unity, later renamed African Union.
An organisation which fought not only for the unity of Africa but also “to eradicate colonialism and neo-colonialism from the African continent” as written on au.int page dedicated to Africa day 2020.
The article of the African Union website goes on stressing the achievements of the organisation which should be celebrated by Africans today. To name a few: the AU Agenda 2063 which outlines seven aspirations and the interventions of the AU to fight against COVID-19.
This afternoon a virtual concert will be broadcast online starting at 18 East African Time.
