On February 16, Chinese Ambassador Gu Xiaojie met with Minister of Communication of Nigeria H.E. Adebayo Shittu in Abuja, and exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation in communication areas.
Gu congratulated Shittu on his assumption as Minister of Communication of Nigeria,and pointed out that in recent years China-Nigeria communication cooperation has achieved fruitful results, leading China-Africa high-tech cooperation. China and Nigeria share each other's development opportunities, and have huge potential in pragmatic cooperation. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Nigeria. China is willing to take this opportunity to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with Nigeria in communication areas so as to lead the way of bilateral cooperation with mutual benefits and to achieve new development of bilateral relations.
Shittu said that China is a trustworthy partner and Nigeria needs to share China's experiences. Nigeria can not develop without the support of communication basis. The Nigerian side wishes to further enhance communication cooperation and exchanges with China in technology transfer, investment, financing and other areas, and promote the development of Nigeria-China relations to a new high with communication cooperation as the spotlight.
