Ghana's Mills launches 2012 re-election bid

ACCRA, May 5  – Ghanaian President John Atta Mills launched his bid for a second term in a December 2012 election on Thursday, announcing he would seek the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in July primaries.

Mills faces an internal challenge for the NDC nomination from Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, wife of ex-leader Jerry Rawlings, who has long sniped from the sidelines at what he calls Mills’ indecisiveness as a president.
