Fourth African Medicines Regulators Conference
What: Opening ceremony of the Fourth African Medicines Regulators Conference followed by a press conference on Medicines Regulation in Africa.
Who: The Conference is organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the NEPAD Agency in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).

BACKGROUND: The general objective of the 4th AMRC is to support countries to accelerate the pace of establishing functional medicines regulatory agencies at national, regional and continental levels and strengthening the capacities of existing NMRAs in the Region.
The workshop will also create a platform to review progress made in the implementation of the five-year action plan (2014-2018) for strengthening the capacity for regulation of medical products in the Region and propose solutions for tackling challenges faced by countries.
Information on recent advances in regulation of medical devices and blood products will also be shared during the session.
