Confusion about the responsibility for bombing the residence of President Laurent Gbagbo.
April 06, 2011 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Martin Nesirky, the spokesman for Secretary General of the United Nations, said that “it’s not the UN who shot down on Gbagbo’s residence, but rather helicopters of the French force Licorne.”
But he added that it was legal for the French Licorne force to support the UN” during a press briefing by Inner City Press.
Collateral damage?
The bombing by the French, supposedly directed at military camps of the Ivorian army and which housed the heavy weapons in Abidjan eventually caused more damage than that.
In addition to the private residence of the Head of State Laurent Gbagbo, there were many other buildings that were looted by the missiles. Hospitals, private residences, shops and many others … were the targets of the destructive missiles and shells pests of Force Licorne.
The state of disorder and insecurity experienced by Côte d’Ivoire has been heavily aggravated by the irresponsible and violent involvement of UNOCI and French Licorne, who attempted a coup d’état in full sight of the whole world.
