African Union and Microsoft for the development of ICT

The African Union and Microsoft will work together for the development of all Africans through ICT tools. The announcement has been made during the “ITU Telecom Africa 2008” conference held in Cairo, Egypt.

According to a press release of the Commision of the African Union, Microsoft and the AU will cooperate to promote and develop ICT solutions tailored for each African region.

Targeted people of this action will be teenager and persons living in rural areas. One of the goals of this cooperation will be to identify how Ict will be applied to make economic growth faster, allowing more people to access new technologies.

 

“Technology plays an essential role in the orientation of being competitive in the actual globalised economy” Elham Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim, ministry of Infrastructures for the African Union, said.
