This docu-film is a co-production of Africanews.it and Teatro Ozio Sazio, made by director Pino Esposito who also edited the videos made in Rosarno by Piervincenzo Canale and the photos made in Lampedusa and Naples by Antonio Murgeri.

The movie starts with pics of the ’ship’s cemetery’ in Lampedusa and then continues with photos and videos of Rosarno made by the editor of Africanews.it, Piervincenzo Canale, with videos and interviews made in Rossano Calabro by Pino Esposito in partnership with Africanews.it, and with the pictures of Antonio Murgeri made in Campania showing Africans in their poor daily lives.

“This was a kick right in your face”, a young man, 25 years old, said.

“What fuc… country is this now?” an Italian lady from the Veneto region said, asking to stay anonymous.

“Il nuovo sud dell’Italia” was shown last January 2010 in Solothurn film festival, one of the main film festival in Switzerland, competing with high budget films.

This docu-film of Africanews.it and Teatro Ozio Sazio with photos of Antonio Murgeri is made without budget and with autotaxation of the authors with the aim to remember.

The movie is also made with pics and videos made by volunteers whom along the last few years have documented what is happening in Rosarno to the Africans and to the people who show them compassion and try to help them in anyway they can. They are the other side of this part of the Italian city showing true solidarity from a part of the population of the region.

Africanews.it took part with videos about the situations of Africans in Rosarno.

The projection of the movie will be followed by a debate in Italian and Swiss German.
