The pair played a key role in the team’s success in ending a five-year spell in the second division.

The former youth internationals are revered by fans in the city of Samsun, on Turkey’s north coast.

“Promotion is sweet but we’re not going in simply to make up the numbers,” Zenke told BBC Sport.

“The challenge for us is to get there and prove we can mix with the big teams and big players in the Super League.

“It will be difficult but we’re going to have a real go and enjoy ourselves.”

Zenke has scored 15 goals this season, with two games left to play, and has been central to Samsunspor’s success.

The 22-year-old is aiming to emulate his compatriot Emmanuel Emenike, who took Karabükspor to promotion last season and has since attracted interest from around Europe.

“There’s always one or two people who motivates you, I must admit that they help you believe in yourself, and Emenike is one of them,” Zenke said.
