It is about 50 km from the Stone Town airport and is easily accessible at about 60 km of transfer to the asphalt roads…

ORA Resort Myblue

The Myblue Hotel is situated in a splendid and unique scenario in one of the island’s most beautiful spots, Nungwi, famous for its sunsets and for its sea. It is about 50 km from the Stone Town airport and is easily accessible at about 60 km of transfer to the asphalt roads.

The Resort reasserts the unmistakeable “sophisticated simplicity” of the famous Mosquito Blue Hotels and was built respecting the environment it is surrouinded by to guarantee an excellent service.

The island is developed in longitudinal manner and embraces an elegant and original tone to allow for a relaxing and peaceful vacation. As you get closer and closer to the restaurant you are overwhelmingly stunned by the many enchanting different shades of blues of the Indian Ocean and of the splendid white, very fine sandy beach, that is protected by a frame of a rocky scenario that defines and borders the bay. The hotel is overlooking a calm and crystal clear sea that, unlikethe rest of the isalnd, is rarely interested in the phenomenon of the high tides.

At only 200 km from the hotel you can find Nungwi’s fishermen village, where you can admire the local craftsmenship and see the many local characteristic bars along the seaside in the vivid Nungwi area.

Myblue Accommodation

Every room is furnished in a boutique like decor and has one or more beds with a mosquito net, a wardrobe with mirror, a desk, a luggage holder, air conditioning, a telephone, a digital safe, a LCD 33 television with international channels, a minibar, a hair dryer and an iron (upon request).

The management of the Hotel guarantees an excellent standard service. The restaurant offers Italian and international cuisine. In front of the pool, near the main bar, there is a relaxing covered area with a library, table games and an internet point free of charge.

The pool extends all the way to the seaside; next to it there is also an outdoors whirlpool bath. Moreover, sun loungers, sun deckchairs and towels (with a depoist) are availble to the clients. You may also use the laundry service, the massage area and the boutique upon paying the service.

Sports & More

You have the possibility to practice snorkeling and diving inside the Resort’s facilities. You may also practice kite surfing (upon request). For the Myblue Hotel clients on the island who love boat rides and fishing, they may rent a fishing boat, located on the island, and it is possible to go deep sea fishing. The water that surrounds the island is full of many different types of fish and Marlin. Another pleasant way that you can enjoy the sea is to get a fisherman to bring you along the Reef on the characteristic local fishing boat, the ingalawa, geared with bar-bells and latin sails.
All of these above mentioned sports and excursions can be organized at the sales point inside the resort.

Experience Zanzibar with the ORA Myblue beach resort

Safaris / Special Interest Safaris

All safaris are conducted in specially designed 10 seater game viewers.

Bird drive: Enjoy a drive in Pilanesberg with a highly trained and specialist guide devoting all of your time to the feathered inhabitants of the Bush
Pilanesberg boasts a bird count in excess of 280 species. Due to the varied terrain of Pilanesberg and the fact that it lies in the transition zone of two different vegetation types the chance of seeing birds of different areas is great and rewarding. Bird drives are tailor made to suit everyone, from someone starting out to experience the great joy of Birding to the experienced “Twitcher” looking for that ever elusive “Lifer Tick” to add to their list.

Botany drive including medicinal uses of indigenous plants: Flora is an often overlooked integral part of an ecosystem.Spend a few hours with us immersed in the wonder that is to be had in vegetation and we will change your view from seeing grass and trees as an unpleasant screen hiding that ever elusive Leopard to one of understanding and complete amazement. As well as understanding the integral interdependency that exists between fauna and flora we will also show you how plants can, and still to this day do, serve as a cure all for various daily Human ailments.

Astronomy and mythology drives: The beauty of stars in the African Bush is rivaled only by their number and clarity. When did you last take the time to stop and look up at the night sky and contemplate humanity? Join us on a drive to explore the realm of distant planets and constellations, and the folklore responsible for their everyday notoriety.

Wildlife management in a modern African National Park: A behind the scenes look at the day to day running and obstacles that face a National Park in an ever Developing World. Get to understand the fundamentals of wildlife management, and how even the most insignificant man induced changes can have catastrophic environmental effects in the long run.

Frog identification (in summer only): Having a truly African experience is not only about the sights but also about the sounds. The African bush comes alive at night and the distinctive calls of Amphibians complete the nocturnal symphony. The Pilanesberg is home to 18 species of frogs and toads, and due to the ability to recognize individual species from their calls your guide will be able to point out the diminutive Common Caco (the size of a Human Thumb Nail) to the dinner plate sized Giant Bullfrog. Not only will your drive be enjoyable but you will be contributing to the continued research and distribution census of these amazing creatures.

Family safari: There can be little quite as special as sharing an African safari with your children. It is in our experience that we also need to adjust the style with which we conduct a safari to appeal to children. We are also obliged to make certain that we do all we can not to disrupt our other guests.

Although our rules and regulations are as follows;

Children up to the age of 6 are not permitted on regular safaris.
Children between the ages of 6 and 12 are permitted on regular safaris the sole discretion of the ranger.
In the event that children are denied a regular safari and subject to availability we will offer a kiddies bush bumble, this is a shortened safari concentrating on the little things in the bush and avoiding deliberate encounters with the big 5.

The launch of British Airways’ six weekly flights from Johannesburg to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport was a vital step in developing the province as a business and tourism destination, Charles Ndabeni, CEO of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, said on Tuesday.

Until now the route has been dominated by SA Airlink. Ndabeni said the introduction of British Airways would add vital seat capacity and make fares more affordable for passengers.

“Kruger Mpumalanga airport has a capacity of 500000 and until recently it handled only 225000 passengers. Comair will now add 80000 seats on the Johannesburg- Nelspruit route. “This extra capacity is vital to growing visitor numbers to Mpumalanga,” said Ndabeni. However, he admitted that the demand for flights was not immediate and a lot of hard work would be needed to promote the route.

“We have several strategies to boost traffic on the route and believe that we can reach break-even by the start of the Soccer World Cup,” Ndabeni said.

Comair and the agency would embark on a media and marketing campaign this month and would be offering various businesses and travel groups in Nelspruit incentive packages. Comair is also allowing passengers to book the flights online on its kulula.com website.

The province is due to spend R45m this year on a new skywalk at Blyde River Canyon and revamping Pilgrim’s Rest. “We will spend about R25m upgrading and developing the town’s facilities, which we will be offering as a concession,” Ndabeni said.

The tourism agency also hopes to finalise, by July 15, proposals from potential investors in several concessions across the province, including the Blyde River Canyon and Loskop Dam. The introduction of the flights is central to the agency’s attempts to elevate the province’s tourism to a new level. These plans include launching a new website that will allow visitors to book their accommodation and flights on agency website mpumalanga.com. “We hope to have the website up and running by the middle of this month,” Ndabeni said.

The Cape Town area is famous for beaches, wine tours and Table Mountain, among other attractions. But on a recent morning, a group of tourists set out to experience something most visitors never see — the townships where black and mixed-race South Africans were warehoused under apartheid.

“We want to show them the other side of Cape Town with this township tour,” said Samantha Mtinini from Camissa Travel & Marketing. The tours take visitors to homes, schools and markets in three townships where they meet children, vendors and other residents.

The tour does not sugarcoat reality: Mtinini says the townships remain impoverished and beset by crime. But the company advertises the tours as a way to create jobs, as well as a way for visitors to experience the humanity and culture of the people who live there.

The tours might also make an interesting side trip for soccer fans heading to South Africa for the World Cup, which kicks off June 11. First of three stops on the tour was Langa, a black township where the visitors were greeted by preschool kids singing a welcome in Xhosa and English. Langa is an area of shacks, schools, religious, sports and recreational and cultural buildings. Traditional healers also do business here, claiming to be able to cure just about everything, and to clear evil spirits from homes and create luck for relationships and business.

“We are born with spirits from ancestors,” Major Ndaba of the Langa Herbal Chemist shop told the tourists. “People come to me for all sorts of problems like business success and evil spirits.”

Just outside in the Joe Slovo shack settlement, Christopher Wanyoike awaited customers at his arts and crafts stall. “My crafts are from all over Africa, from Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Tanzania among others,” he said. He is among an army of Langa entrepreneurs, from fruit and vegetable hawkers, to cooks barbecuing meat al fresco to be served with umqombothi, frothy traditional African beer for about $2 (14 rand) a liter.
