The hidden talents discovered by the African Dream //

The association The African Dream is hunter and coordinator of talent throughout social networks. Every year new artists are discovered among more than 400 participants.

Here is a selection of some artists who deserve to be widely known.

Until they find cultural actors who will support them (Managers, Producers, Tour Managers, Distributors…), the African Dream offers the support of its structure (Tour Manager, Manager, Press attaché, Producer).

Ablaye & The Links unite France and Senegal. They found the universal language. Their cultural mix is nicely balanced without contradictions among influences, and offers the “Nu World” style, a style close to jazz-rock, m’balaax, pop, variety and movie soundtracks. Anyone finds its place in this reassuring universe.

☼☼ Ablaye MBAYE worked in collaboration with Youssou N’DOUR and went on tours with him during 7 years, Kery JAMES, Disiz La peste, Maria Carey,… The Links come from a different universe and performed with the musicians of Ry CHARLES, Désert Rebel, Pause, Nahema, Moon Zaia and Tarace Boulba…

Bomboro KOSSO presents a really African reggae, positive and copper-coloured. Bomboro Kosso asks real questions, is clearly committed. He denounces injustice, the plagues that destroy Africa. Bomboro Kosso has his own music personality, his own energy and proposes something else. A voluntarily more dancing character, maybe lighter in his form. Mixing African rhythms and Jamaican roots (and even ska), the result is convincing.

Shahin is the youngest rap singer of Y-Crew Family, Ahmed Shahin, known as sHaHin el 3abkary. He lives in Alexandria, the Hip-hop city in Egypt. When he began, Shahin was the youngest rap singer in Egypt. In 2006 he met Y-Crew Family, they helped him and showed him the way. An artist discovered thanks to his new style. Today his aim is to widen the Arab Hip-Hop culture all over the world.

JUJuCracy links the sound with the picture. A very original set to be discovered. When he applied to Yaoundé University « THEATER AND CINEMA ARTS » he discovered that it was a perfect “prison” for his soul. JujuCRACY started to produce himself visual arts and music, and found in the city a new ‘FREE HOLLYWOOD’; he calls it JUJUROCK, free from any rule or norm of judgment, seeing sounds and hearing pictures.

JESRS is our Mixed Gainsbourg. He likes well-done job so he started mosaic art, with words and rhythms. ☼☼ Njaaya started to work professionally in music world by working during almost two years with PBS Radikal of Didier Awadi where she was back vocalist. It is after this experience that she joined the band Alif (first band of female rap in Senegal) to gain « a more female expression » according to her words.

Koki, it is a crazy and beyond limits energy, crazy pop sounds and a real mix of influences from Michael Jackson, Leny Kravitz, Nirvana to Fela Kuti and Myriam Makeba! KOKI is an author/ composer / interpreter. In his music creations, Koki talks in English and in French about Human themes, universal themes such as search for happiness, hope and committed topics like racism and authoritarism.

Islam presents a new form of artistic chaos. “Spirale” is a modern tale; the fusion between urban music, classic music (piano, lyric voice) and theater; all of this is accompanied by short movies where the main character is challenged to his own alter ego.

☼☼ Islam already won the Young Discoveries Award in Cannes and was supported by Luc Besson and received the support from many other talents such as Akenathon, Sexion d’assaut, Kery James…

Madou is the son of Sidiki Diabaté, famous Gambian musician who emigrated to Mali before the Independence who recorded in 1971 the first kora album solo in the History of music, and son of Mariam Kouyaté, great story-teller from Mali. Ghirmay Andom is an Eritrean author, composer and interpreter. His music is the result of his original and harmonious alliance of modern and traditional instruments played by ethnic tribes in Eritrea: “waata”, “kirar”, “koboro”, “shambuko”, “darabuka”, “abangala”, etc.

Mamady DIABATE is from Guinea. Talented guitarist born in a family of storytellers, his father Lamine DIABATE was a great player of Ngoni in the instrumental band of Guinea, his mother Saran KOUYATE and his sister Saran KANTE are two great Guinean music divas. At the end of 1999, he went for the first time in Europe with Sayon CAMARA, and then he moved to Portugal and traveled through many countries such as Brazil, Mexico, England… Enriched by his meetings and trips, Mamady moved to Paris and created his own band “Le Vibration Mandingue”.

Africa had always interested her, she could not explain why. The only country she has visited by now is Morocco but she is not done yet ;o)
Coline does not paint only paintings inspired by Africa, she is inspired in the first place by the expression and the presence of some glances.

Eli DRO is a painter creating dreams. Eli DRO presents paintings, which ask, suggest, and involve your imagination… The themes are: aids, excision, war… Eli touches with his finger the problems that anyone can develop as long as one wishes so. This strategy to make spirits deliver gives to this practice a celebration of imagination and poetry by giving space to anyone’s mind. Eli uses African mythes, parables, symbols, proverbs. Like a chameleon, he seems to hide himself through a changing skin that adapts to circumstances.

Le Quartier Général, it is a duet of graphic artists and illustrators sisters who create the atmosphere of a cultural Black American travel.
Le Quartier Général launches a set « Papiers Ordinaires », a figurative work of portraits entirely created with felt, big size, scale one. This project consists in series like a pagan « pilgrimage », travelling through cultures.  They want to have this project out from their workshop and go and meet diverse places to give birth to a « travel » celebrating mix.
